northside records
Northside Records is in Monocle top 100 retail stores worldwide and owner Chris Gill brings the funk every Thursday on his show The Get Down broadcasted at midday on Three Triple R Melbourne Community Radio Station. At Northside you will find the records Chris plays on his show and many many more. You can expect to walk out with a bag full of vinyl. Searchers records
Searchers started as a bookstore back in 2012. The store is now owned by the bass guitarist of Melbourne band Architecture in Helsinki, Sam Perry, and his friend Jakob Schmitt who brought the business and started to push more vinyl. Now, the store is somewhat of a music library with floor-to-ceiling records of all genres. Plug seven records
The owner of Plug Seven, Ari Roze has been digging for over 20 years. Now, he has hauled tens of thousands of records from all over world into the Smith Street shop. Here you will find rare gems, classics and they always have some local heat too. Their weekly record drops are large and if your fast you will pick up some well sort after records. Skydiver Records
Skydiver began in 2016 specialising in vinyl for the dance floor but now they also sling coffee and drinks with a nice courtyard to enjoy them in. Dig the deep crates of house, techno, Italo disco, synth-pop, new beat, new wave, cosmic, ambient, and way more. There are two window-side Technic 1200s for deep listening drivers.. Licorice Pie
Licorice Pie specialists in secondhand vinyl, so if you are up for a dig this is the place to be with fresh stock arriving from all corners of the globe regularly. dutch vinyl
This place got its name because the owner Tam Patton and Mark Reuten brought thousands of records from Holland to Melbourne to start what is now Dutch Vinyl. The collection is eclectic and you can definitely find a bargain in these bins. These guys take pride in their vinyl, they clean and care for the wax, so that old records play like new. Hub 301 owner Greg Molinaro has spent years in Melbourne’s dance music scene and his knowledge and tastes shine through in his selections on the shelves. There are plenty of records from local heroes and the worldwide wax is banging. Even second-hand records can be top-shelf material and you should keep your eye out for an in-store vinyl release party at Hub, they are always a good time.
